The Sun emits not only light but a continuous stream of plasma moving at hundreds of kilometers per second (solar wind) alongside magnetic fields. While Earth’s magnetosphere shields us, intense solar activity perturbs the ionosphere, satellites, power grids, and GPS systems.
Biometeorological research suggests that major geomagnetic disturbances (Kp 6 or higher) can subtly influence circadian rhythms and the autonomic nervous system, causing mild fatigue or headaches in sensitive individuals similar to weather sensitivity.
During severe geomagnetic storms (Kp 8–9), the auroral oval expands toward mid-latitudes, occasionally revealing deep red low-latitude auroras in Hokkaido and northern Honshu—a phenomenon observed during Solar Cycle 25.
