Woven from daily notes: a record of solitary cooking, living, and development

The breeze has suddenly turned cool. This week, I stir-fried eggplants, washed the electric fan, and wrote small snippets of code from bed. A quiet record of caring for tools in the gaps of daily life, and eating modestly yet well.

Stir-frying Eggplants at Dusk and Daily Set Meals

Seasonal Savors from a Single Skillet

Eggplants frequently took center stage for dinner this week. Simple home cooking—just quickly stir-frying them with pork or chicken. Humble fare, yet pairing a piping-hot dish with warm rice gently unwinds the fatigue of the day.

On other days, a quick packaged curry or a kimchi-namul rice bowl does the trick. Having an AI analyze and score photos of my home cooking kept yielding oddly high marks with little friction—a mild, humorous irony.

Caring for Daily Life, Tools to Help Family

Disassembling the Fan: Everyday Tasks of Upkeep

I dismantled the electric fan that served faithfully all summer, washing and wiping down each piece. Once cleared of dust and reassembled, the breeze it casts feels remarkably refreshing. Time spent tending to one's tools is also time spent tending to the mind.

This week, I visited my parents' home in Yokohama to help prepare paperwork for the local neighborhood association. Handwritten rosters and tangled administrative documents were wrapped up in about ten minutes with AI. Hearing my mother—who isn't versed in tech—wistfully say 'I wish I could use something like that,' I experimented with a lightweight AI interface operable directly inside LINE.

Subtractive Development and Time Brewed with Coffee

Creating While Reclined: A Lighthearted Venture

Stepping away from late-night desk grinds and bloodshot eyes, this week I shaped a series of small apps from bed or while on the move, prompting via smartphone. Letting my shoulders relax and building with minimal friction—this subtractive approach feels genuinely comfortable.

Between coding sessions, I brewed an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe picked up from Kaldi. Spinning City Pop on vinyl, crafting a web page to catalog ideas from classic sci-fi—quietly hand-crafting tools that I personally find fascinating and desirable.

I've been publishing mini-app experiments at a furious pace today, but truthfully, I'm just lying in bed. Being able to craft and release things like these entirely from a phone while lying down feels like living in another era...
